Growing up around sports, I have always had a passion for them and have developed that passion into a career that I love. I have also developed a passion for photography and digital media, which has helped make me very versatile, and has provided me a number of opportunities I never anticipated. My ultimate goal is to make an impact on people wherever I go. Through my faith in God, I feel that I have been blessed beyond measure. Join me as we go through the rest of my story!
My Story
My childhood was unique, to say the least. When I was born, my dad was early in a career playing Major League Baseball, so I grew up around a Major League locker room. How many kids get to say that? At the time, I did not really realize that it was that special, or maybe just did not recognize it. It was just part of my family’s life. My dad’s career allowed my family to travel to places we never would have otherwise, and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. My first “job” was batboy for the Chicago Cubs. I got to shag batting practice with Sammy Sosa and Kerry Wood, running out to the outfield of Wrigley Field. I would high five Sosa after his home runs, but also had the unfortunate experience of witnessing two streakers (two more than anybody wants to…). It was an opportunity I will never forget.
My dad, Jeff, and me at Coors Field in the year 2000.
As you can imagine, the experience of being with my dad through the final nine years of his career shaped my love and passion for sports, and I played baseball and hockey for the most part growing up. There came a point, though, where I had to decide between the two and I felt that my passion for playing hockey outweighed baseball, so I focussed on that. I missed playing baseball, but it was a great decision for myself because it led me to play at the Division I level at the University of Connecticut. I achieved one of my goals of playing at one of the highest levels you can, and got to compete against a lot of guys that are now in the NHL.
It was also at UConn where I was able to begin to pursue my broadcasting career and hone my skills. Through our student run radio station, I was able to broadcast a number of different sports whenever it aligned with my hockey schedule. The highlight came in April of my senior year, when I was able to travel to Indianapolis to broadcast the historic fourth straight national title for Geno Auriemma’s women’s squad. It was an unbelievable experience. How many people get to broadcast a national championship game?
Once I graduated, I knew I wanted to continue to broadcast. After an internship with ROOT Sports Rocky Mountain covering the Colorado Rockies, I attended the baseball winter meetings in National Harbor, where I was able to get a job as the Broadcast/PR/Community Relations Assistant with the Frederick Keys (Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles). It was two years with the Keys that afforded me the opportunity to become a better broadcaster, and hone my photography, graphic design, and digital media skills (as well as my mascot skills).
So here I am today: a multi-faceted broadcaster who is passionate about people and digital media, constantly working my way to the top. I believe hard work, dedication, and faith will lead me to where I need to be to make an impact. I hope you enjoy my website, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any comments or questions.
